The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 2,089 personnel, including 1,015 regular and 1,074 special marshals, alongside 32 patrol vehicles, six motorcycles, three ambulances, and two tow trucks, to maintain smooth traffic flow and reduce accidents during the festive season.
Speaking on Tuesday, FRSC Ogun spokesperson Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole said the deployment aligns with the Operation Zero Tolerance on Road Traffic Crashes nationwide, aiming to safeguard motorists and travelers across the state.
“FRSC Ogun is committed to ensuring safe motoring this festive period and beyond,” Odunsi-Oyewole said.
Meanwhile, Sector Commander Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin urged road users to take responsibility for their safety, avoid distracted driving, and adhere to speed limits. He stressed that speeding remains a leading cause of road accidents and warned that offenders would face legal action.
“Only the living can celebrate,” Fasakin said, emphasizing the need for vigilance on the roads.
The FRSC recently launched special operations targeting drivers who endanger lives through overspeeding, with the goal of reducing crashes in the state by 10%. Speed-limiting devices were also installed in vehicles of offenders as part of enforcement measures.
