Tinubu to Depart Abuja for State Visit to Türkiye on Monday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Monday depart Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between both countries.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday titled “President Tinubu to Undertake State Visit to Türkiye.”

According to the statement, the visit seeks to deepen the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Türkiye while exploring new areas of collaboration in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.

The trip also serves as a reciprocal gesture following the state visit of Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to Nigeria from October 19 to 20, 2021.

During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to hold strategic political and diplomatic engagements with Turkish authorities, focusing on shared interests in finance, communication, trade, and investment.

The programme will include high-level bilateral meetings and the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering areas such as scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military collaboration, and diplomatic protocol.

A Nigeria–Türkiye business forum will also be held, bringing together investors from both countries to explore mutual investment opportunities.

Members of the presidential delegation expected to participate in the bilateral engagements include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.); and the Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Jimi Benson.

Others on the entourage are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the visit.
