The wife of the Plateau State Governor, Mrs Helen Mutfwang, on Thursday visited selected hospitals in Jos to celebrate babies born on New Year’s Day, presenting gifts to the newborns and their families.

Mrs Mutfwang toured four public hospitals, accompanied by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and other government officials. She said the visit was aimed at welcoming the New Year babies and offering support to their parents.

According to her, the birth of a child brings immense joy and hope, and such moments deserve celebration and encouragement.

“The birth of a child is one of life’s greatest blessings. It represents new beginnings and limitless potential,” she said, urging communities to embrace and celebrate every new life.

The governor’s wife congratulated the mothers and encouraged expectant women to remain strong and adhere to medical advice as they prepare for delivery.

Mothers Express Gratitude

Some of the beneficiaries described the visit as heartwarming, noting that the cash gifts and baby items were timely and greatly appreciated.

Comfort Friday, who gave birth to a baby boy at 12:47 a.m. at the Dadin Kowa Primary Health Care Centre, said the visit had a positive impact on her family and thanked Mrs Mutfwang for her generosity.

Another mother, Naanmang Krimkat, who delivered her baby at 8:20 a.m., expressed gratitude for the support extended to her and her child.

At Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Hospital, Mary Lukas, who gave birth to a baby boy at 2:45 a.m., described the visit as remarkable, while Janet Emmanuel, who delivered at 3:00 a.m., said she was pleasantly surprised by the governor’s wife’s kindness.

At the Plateau Specialist Hospital, Mrs Halima Umar, who was delivered of twins at 11:40 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., thanked God and the governor’s wife for the thoughtful gesture.

Similarly, at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Mrs Fatimah Umar, who gave birth at 2:45 a.m., said she was overwhelmed by the show of love and support.

Over 100 Women Benefited

In total, more than 100 women received baby clothing, essential provisions, and cash gifts during the New Year hospital tour by the governor’s wife.
