Obi Cubana Speaks on “Most Important Assignment” Amid APC Appointment Backlash

Popular Nigerian businessman and nightlife entrepreneur, Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has revealed that his current most important assignment is winning souls for Jesus Christ, amid growing backlash over his recent political appointment.

The billionaire businessman made the declaration in a Facebook post on Sunday, following intense criticism over his association with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obi Cubana was recently appointed South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement—an APC support group mobilising for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. The announcement sparked widespread reactions on social media, with critics accusing him of aligning with an administration they claim has worsened economic hardship in the country.

Reacting indirectly to the controversy, Obi Cubana took to Facebook to emphasise his spiritual focus, writing:

“The MOST important assignment now is winning souls for Christ.”

He further added:

“Our week is way too blessed and full of fruitfulness, amen! Awesome time in God’s presence as always.”

The post appeared to signal a shift in emphasis from political discourse to faith and personal conviction.

It will be recalled that Obi Cubana recently gave his life to Christ after being led in prayer by the Founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze—a development that has since drawn significant public attention.

Despite the ongoing debate surrounding his political involvement, Obi Cubana’s latest message suggests a renewed focus on spirituality amid public scrutiny.
