NUPRC, NRS Move to Strengthen Oil and Gas Revenue Collection

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) have agreed to deepen collaboration aimed at improving revenue collection for the Federation.

The agreement was reached on Monday, January 12, 2026, during a courtesy visit by the Commission Chief Executive of NUPRC, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, to the Chairman of the NRS, Mr. Zacch Adedeji, at the tax agency’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.

Mrs. Eyesan’s visit forms part of her broader stakeholder engagement strategy following her assumption of office as NUPRC’s Chief Executive last month. The meeting focused on aligning regulatory and revenue-collection efforts, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

According to a statement issued by the NUPRC Head of Media and Strategic Communications, Mr. Eniola Akinkuotu, the discussions were driven by the new tax laws that came into effect on January 1, 2026. Under the new framework, closer coordination between the NUPRC and the NRS is expected to enhance transparency and efficiency in the collection of oil and gas revenues.

Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to working together in the national interest to ensure the government’s revenue targets are met.
