The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited) has announced the full restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) following repairs to a damaged section in Warri, Delta State.
In a statement released on Monday, the company said the pipeline was successfully recommissioned after an unexpected explosion disrupted operations on December 10, 2025.
According to NNPC Limited, emergency response protocols were immediately activated after the incident, with coordinated containment measures put in place to prevent further damage and ensure safety.
“Following the unexpected explosion on December 10, 2025, we immediately activated our emergency response, deployed coordinated containment measures, and worked tirelessly with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the damaged section was repaired, pressure-tested, and safely recommissioned,” the statement said.
The company confirmed that the pipeline is now fully operational, describing the restoration as a demonstration of its resilience and commitment to national energy security.
NNPC Limited attributed the swift recovery to the cooperation of host communities, regulatory guidance, the support of security agencies, and the dedication of its partners and staff.
“This achievement was made possible through the unwavering support of our host communities, the guidance of regulators, the vigilance of security agencies, and the dedication of our partners and staff,” the statement added.
The company noted that the successful restoration was completed in record time while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.
Looking ahead, NNPC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection, community safety, and the integrity of its infrastructure.
