Maiduguri, Borno State
Vice President Kashim Shettima has strongly condemned the bomb attack on a mosque at Gamboru Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, which claimed the lives of five people and left several others injured.
Shettima described the attack as a heinous act of terrorism aimed at destabilising the country and instilling fear among citizens, assuring Nigerians that those responsible will not escape justice.
He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate reinforcement of security measures across Borno State following the incident.
Security Reinforcement
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Vice President said the Federal Government has deployed additional tactical security teams, intensified intelligence gathering, and strengthened joint security operations to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
He stressed that the Tinubu administration will not tolerate any attempt to undermine national peace and security, reaffirming the government’s commitment to decisively confronting terrorism in all its forms.
Condolences and Commitment
Shettima extended his condolences to the Borno State Government, the families of the victims, and those affected by the attack. He also reiterated that the Federal Government will continue to provide full support to security agencies to eliminate terrorism, particularly in the North-East region.
