Baghdad | January 4 (QNA) — Two people were killed and three others injured on Sunday after an improvised explosive device (IED), believed to have been left behind by the ISIS group, detonated in northern Iraq.
The explosion occurred near Al Ayadhiya, west of Mosul, in Nineveh Governorate, according to an Iraqi security source. The device reportedly went off as a group of sheep herders passed through a rural area close to Tal Abta, west of the city.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the blast.
The bodies of the deceased were transferred to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, the source added.
