Reports say that armed bandits have abducted 28 travelers from Zak village in the Bashar area of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
A resident of the local government area, who confirmed the incident to The Punch, said the victims — including men, women, and children — were traveling to Sabon Layi to attend a Maulud celebration on Sunday.
“On Monday morning, people using the road saw a vehicle abandoned along the highway. The car belongs to a community leader from Zak. After investigations, it was discovered that the vehicle was the one conveying the travelers,” the source said.
Another resident told the newspaper that, as of now, there is no information about the whereabouts of the abducted persons.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Alabo Alfred, said the police have begun investigating the reported incident.
