Abuja, January 26, 2026 – The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to take environmental protection and cleanliness seriously as a collective societal responsibility.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday to mark the International Day of Clean Energy 2026, themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet,” Tinubu emphasized the importance of sustainable practices for a healthier future.
“The day reminds us of our shared duty to protect and preserve the environment,” she said. “I urge everyone to embrace renewable energy and sustainable technologies as a foundation for survival, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. Let us work together to build a greener, healthier planet for all.”
Tinubu also extended her greetings to Nigerians, wishing them a happy International Day of Clean Energy.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the International Day of Clean Energy, observed annually on January 26, was established by the United Nations General Assembly under resolution A/77/327. The day aims to raise awareness and mobilize global action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy, benefiting both people and the planet.
