Dangote Urges Nigerians Not to Pay Above N739 per Litre for Petrol

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has launched a nationwide hotline for Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved price of N739 per litre.

The refinery warned marketers against creating artificial shortages, highlighting that it is supplying up to 50 million litres daily.

In a statement on Monday, the company said the move reflects its commitment to transparency, consumer protection, and affordable fuel in the downstream petroleum market.

“The hotline, 0800 123 5264, is now active nationwide. Consumers can report violations to help maintain fair pricing across more than 2,000 MRS stations. This follows the refinery’s recent rollout of nationwide PMS sales at N739 per litre, a strategic intervention to stabilise fuel prices and ease the financial burden on Nigerians during the festive season,” the statement said.

The refinery stressed its mission to deliver high-quality, affordable fuel while supporting national economic interests.

“We encourage Nigerians not to pay inflated prices for PMS when locally refined fuel is available at N739 per litre. Report any station selling above this price. Together, we can ensure the benefits of this reduction reach every consumer,” it added.

Dangote also reaffirmed its commitment to a steady fuel supply and warned against attempts to manipulate availability.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during the critical festive period,” the statement said.

By refining fuel locally at scale, Dangote Refinery is reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imports, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira, and strengthening energy security. The company described the initiative as a major step toward sustainable energy solutions and national economic recovery.
