Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated residents of the state as they welcome the year 2026, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, peace, and people-centred governance.
The governor expressed gratitude to God for His protection, grace, and sustaining presence over the state and its people throughout the past year.
This message was contained in a New Year statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, and made available to journalists in Warri on Thursday.
Describing the New Year as “a season of renewed hope, fresh beginnings, and collective responsibility,” Oborevwori urged Deltans to draw strength from the lessons of the past and approach the future with optimism, courage, and unity of purpose.
He commended residents for their sacrifices, resilience, and patience, noting that the modest but impactful achievements recorded across key sectors were made possible by the people’s enduring spirit, peaceful disposition, and shared commitment to progress.
The governor assured citizens that their pains, hopes, and aspirations remain central to his administration’s policies. He reaffirmed that in the New Year, the government would intensify efforts in good governance, infrastructural renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, enhanced security, and inclusive economic growth, in line with the state’s MORE Agenda.
Oborevwori further called on residents to shun violence, embrace peaceful coexistence, and uphold the values of hard work, tolerance, and patriotism, stressing that enduring peace remains the strongest foundation for sustainable development, prosperity, and social harmony.
He also appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to deepen collaboration with the government, emphasising that building a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Delta State is a shared responsibility.
While wishing Deltans a prosperous, peaceful, and fulfilling New Year, the governor expressed renewed confidence in the collective destiny of the state, assuring that his administration would remain steadfast in delivering people-oriented policies and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of all residents and positioning Delta State on a path of sustainable growth, hope, and shared prosperity.
