Prediction, Team News & Possible Lineups
Already-qualified Al-Nassr will conclude their AFC Champions League Two group-stage campaign with a home clash against Al Zawraa on Wednesday.
The Saudi giants sit comfortably at the top of Group D with a perfect record, while Al Zawraa occupy second place and are pushing to secure qualification for the knockout rounds.
Match Preview
Al-Nassr have been imperious in Group D, winning all five matches, scoring 17 goals and conceding just one, as they cruised into the next stage of the competition.
Jorge Jesus’ side last featured in the tournament in late November, thrashing Istiklol 4–0. Their only defensive lapse came earlier in the group stage, conceding once in a 2–1 win over Goa on October 22.
With the knockout rounds set to begin in February, Al-Nassr are already assured of progress. Alongside Al Wasl, they are currently one of only two teams from the West Region to have secured qualification.
Domestically, Al-Nassr have also been in fine form. They defeated Al-Wahda 4–2 in a friendly on December 10, and their last Saudi Pro League outing ended in a commanding 4–1 victory over Al Khaleej, leaving them top of the league with a 100% record from nine matches.
The Riyadh club resume league action against Al Okhdood on December 27, and continue to look like the team to beat this season.
Al Zawraa’s Qualification Battle
Al Zawraa head into the final group match knowing qualification is within reach. The Iraqi side sit second with nine points, three ahead of third-placed Istiklol, who face Goa away on Wednesday.
A draw against Al-Nassr would be enough to guarantee Al Zawraa a place in the round of 16, though defeat could open the door for Istiklol depending on results elsewhere.
Emad El Nahhas’ men earned a 2–1 win over Goa in their previous continental outing and will switch focus to domestic action after this match, with a league fixture against Al Minaa scheduled for December 28.
While Al-Nassr remain heavy favourites, potential squad rotation could give Al Zawraa hope of springing a surprise.
