The United States Department of Justice has released thousands of additional documents linked to the late financier and convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
This marks the largest disclosure so far since investigations into Epstein began. Among the newly released materials is an internal email from a Justice Department investigator indicating that Donald Trump travelled on Epstein’s private jet more frequently than previously disclosed.
According to the BBC, the email was sent on January 7, 2020, at a time when Mr Trump was serving as President of the United States.
In the message, the deputy head of the investigative team described alleged trips involving Mr Trump, Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was under investigation at the time over her role in Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
The Department of Justice said the release of the documents is part of ongoing efforts to increase transparency regarding individuals who had contact with Epstein before his death in federal custody in 2019.
