Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned his position as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
Kwankwaso announced his resignation on Monday in a statement shared via his official Facebook page, confirming his exit from the Kano State Executive Council.
In the statement, he expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve in the administration.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and as a member of the Kano State Executive Council,” he said.
He thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him, noting that his time in office was filled with valuable experiences and lessons gained in the course of serving the people of Kano State.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I sincerely appreciate the trust placed in me,” he added.
Kwankwaso expressed optimism that the youth and sports sectors would continue to receive adequate attention under the current administration. He stressed the importance of sustained investment in youth empowerment and sports development across the state.
“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident they will flourish in the years to come,” he said.
He concluded by offering prayers for Kano State and its leadership.
“May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State continued progress and success,” the statement read.
The resignation comes amid ongoing political realignments within the Kano State Government, following Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent departure from the NNPP.
