PHOTOS: Emir Sanusi Resumes Lectures at Northwest University as Law Student

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has officially begun academic activities at Northwest University, Kano, after enrolling as a 200-level law student.

The monarch joined fellow undergraduates for lectures on Tuesday, drawing attention as he arrived dressed modestly in a flowing black outfit paired with a white turban. Sanusi was seen sitting quietly at the back of the lecture hall on a three-seater desk, attentively following the session alongside other students.

His attendance follows a special admission offer extended to him by the university last week. Northwest University admitted the emir into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme, with a focus on Common and Sharia Law.

According to the institution, the admission recognises Sanusi’s vast experience in governance, economics, and public service, as well as his long-standing commitment to education and intellectual development.

Established in 2012, Northwest University is one of the two universities owned by the Kano State Government.

Sanusi, a PhD holder and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), remains a highly influential public figure. He is widely respected for his expertise in economics and finance, and for his consistent advocacy for education, social reform, and good governance.
